As far as these things go, Thursday’s show hit most of the right notes, with guitar solos every 90 seconds (give or take) and set lists heavy on the familiar hits. On their own, Foreigner plays casinos, but paired with Styx, they can graduate to a much larger room. It’s become pretty standard in recent years for acts of this vintage - see also Journey, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Kansas, Ted Nugent - to hit the road together.
It didn’t feel like the first time Thursday night at the Target Center, but it was close enough for the cheery, beery classic rock fans that crowded the downtown Minneapolis basketball arena to see Don Felder, Styx and Foreigner.
